Know More About… The Benefits Of Going Outside

Please excuse us while we play catch up! Here’s a post that we created and shared on Instagram recently!

Instagram is meant for quick intake so we just wanted to bring this post over to the blog to further break down why going outside is in fact super healthy and good for you! Feel Good RVA is all about promoting ways to bring your stress levels down, did you know that a really effective way to do that is by getting fresh air?! Research shows that simply going for a short walk every day can lower your blood pressure AND reduce stress-related hormones cortisol and adrenaline. Next time you’re feeling overwhelmed, take a few minutes for a break and a calm hike around the neighborhood!

Our whole world has changed immensely due to Covid-19. We spend day in and day out trying to avoid catching this virus that switched up life as we know it. Well, while you were busy stuffing your shopping carts with orange juice and Lysol (not that there’s anything wrong with that, keep doing that), who would have thought that there was a totally free component to boosting your immune system? That’s right, getting outside! Being in the sun is a great source of Vitamin D, which is important for your immune system, as well as your bones, blood cells, and mineral absorption!

Lastly, WE JUST WANT YOU TO FEEL GOOD! Getting outdoors is scientifically known to lift your mood! Researchers have found that nature simply makes us happy. Anxiety, depression and anger are notably decreased after spending time outdoors as measured by muscle tension, blood pressure, and brain activity. Nature boosts endorphin levels and dopamine production, which promotes happiness. Who would have thought that just being in a green environment can decrease cortisol!

That’s it for our take on getting a daily dose of nature! Make sure to follow us on Instagram to see when we drop more posts like this!
